Poker is a card game in which each player places a bet in front of the others. In this game, the player with the highest value hand wins. The player with the second highest value hand is the loser. There are five to seven players in a game of Poker. The bets placed in front of each player are known as pots.
A five-card straight in poker is called a flush. Fours of a kind are pairs of cards with the same rank. If a player has a lower-ranking card, the hand is considered a low-ranking straight. Higher-ranking cards win in a straight, and lower-ranking cards lose.
If a player raises his or her stake, the rest of the players must fold or call. In poker, some players have folded and have dropped out, leaving the remaining players with the value of their stake. However, if the player is not willing to raise his or her stake, he can discard some cards to improve his or her hand rank.
In most poker games, players are required to make a compulsory bet at the start of each hand. This bet is called the “ante.” In some games, there is a blind or small blind. The big blind is twice as big as the small blind. These bets give players something to chase.
